What to Bring to a Notary Appointment; A Quick Checklist
If you’ve never used a mobile notary before, you might be wondering:
“What do I need to have ready?”
Whether you're meeting me at home, at work, or in a public spot, this simple checklist will help make sure your notarization goes smoothly and quickly—usually in under 20 minutes!
1. A Valid Photo ID
The most important thing to bring is a valid government-issued photo ID. Colorado law requires notaries to verify your identity before notarizing anything.
Accepted IDs include:
Driver’s license or state ID (from any U.S. state)
Passport (U.S. or foreign)
Military ID
Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
Pro tip: Make sure your ID is not expired.
2. Your Document (But Don't Sign Yet!)
Bring your document completely filled out, but do not sign it ahead of time. The signature must be witnessed in person during your appointment.
Common documents I notarize:
Power of Attorney
Auto title transfers
Affidavits
Marriage license applications
Certified copy affidavits
3. Witnesses (If Required)
Some documents require a witness or two in addition to a notary. If your document does, you’ll need to bring those people with you. They’ll also need valid photo ID.
Not sure if your document needs witnesses? Just ask me when booking.
4. Payment
Payment is due at the time of service. I accept:
Cash
Venmo
CashApp
Zelle
Travel fees apply depending on your location, and I’ll always confirm that with you ahead of time.
5. A Clear Spot to Sign
If I’m coming to your home or office, try to have a clean surface ready—like a table or counter—so we have space to sign, stamp, and check ID comfortably.
You’re All Set!
That’s it! Getting your documents notarized doesn’t have to be stressful or confusing. With a little prep, your appointment will be fast, easy, and legally sound.
